Savannah newborn photographer Kimberly McHugh Photography – formerly KCM Photography – has a new look!
After a year of hardships and uncertainties, your Savannah, Georgia newborn photographer gets a new look, name and website.
This past year has been a very long and tiring year for my family and me here in Savannah, GA. It all started when my husband got hurt at a class for his job. He tore a muscle in his leg and ended up being in a boot for six weeks. The doctors didn’t tell him to take a wedge out of the boot each week, which ended up causing his muscle to not heal correctly. It wasn’t until he went to the course again that we realized it was still injured. At this time we also found out we were expecting our third baby. The timing wasn’t something we had planned so, of course, we were stressed.
Now, here we were, an injured husband and a baby on the way. I know what you’re thinking. ‘That doesn’t sound bad at all. I’ve had it way worse.’ And I’m sure you’re right. Unfortunately, the bad news train was just getting started for us at this point.
I won’t bore you all with military lingo and acronyms so I’ll make this bad news train short. We didn’t get into the class we needed to in time so he could reenlist. Our feelings become like Yo-yos when informed he could reenlist for them to then come back at us and say never-mind.
During this time, we turned to God and prayed like we had never prayed before. Peace during this process along with God’s will was what we prayed for the most. We also prayed He’d open the doors He wanted us to walk through and nail shut the ones that were not for us.
I also prayed for my newborn photography business and family. After much prayer and many talks with my husband I decided to cut back on birth and portrait sessions, and eventually stop taking them all together, to enjoy time with our family before our lives turned upside down.
Then, one bright, sunshiny, day we got the news we had been praying over a year for. We get to stay in Savannah and reenlist!
“Cool. You get to stay. What does this have to do with your new look, name, and site?”
I’m glad you asked. I decided to extend my initials (KCM) to my full name as well as change up my logo to include my children. Each little egg in the nest represents D, S, and J. These little guys keep me going and are my inspiration, so it’s only fitting to have them included.
It’s a new chapter with great things on the horizon. Same for Kimberly McHugh Photography. This starts a new chapter in capturing the stories of the people in and around Savannah, Georgia.
